Farm solar & solar borehole pumps
Power for the farm, straight from the field.
Solar lets farms offset or even eliminate their reliance on grid electricity, including in places the grid barely reaches, from Harrismith to Parys and Wolwehoek in the Free State.

Plan solar for your farmGrid-tied, hybrid or off-grid farm solar.
We assess your site and loads, then recommend grid-tied, hybrid or fully off-grid, depending on how far you are from the grid and how much you want to rely on it.
Grid-tied
Panels offset daytime grid use. Simplest option where grid supply is reliable.
Hybrid
Panels plus batteries. Offsets grid use and keeps you running during outages.
Off-grid
Fully self-supplied. For remote properties the grid barely reaches.
Solar built for farm conditions.
- Robust equipment for dusty, hot conditions
- Ground-mount or roof-mount
- Designs sized for pumps and motors
- Support after installation
Recent farm solar installations in the Free State.
Irrigation, packhouses and pumps, powered by systems we designed and installed.

Farm install — Harrismith, Free State
Sized to daytime irrigation and packhouse loads.

Farm install — Parys, Free State
Hybrid system with battery for critical-load ride-through.

Solar VSD & pump — Wolwehoek, Free State
Dedicated solar-direct pump system with VSD. Diesel replacement.
Read the case study →Can solar run a borehole pump?
Yes. A solar pump with a variable speed drive (VSD) runs a borehole straight off the panels during the day, often replacing diesel. Our Wolwehoek project in the Free State is a 7.5 kW solar VSD and pump.
Grid-tied, hybrid or off-grid: which is best for a farm?
It depends on how far you are from the grid and how much you rely on it. Grid-tied suits farms with steady supply, hybrid adds batteries for outages, and off-grid suits remote properties. We recommend one after assessing your site and loads.
Can solar power cold rooms and irrigation?
Yes. Irrigation fits naturally with peak sun hours, and cold rooms and packhouses can run on solar with batteries, keeping produce cool without diesel. We size the system for your pumps and motors.
Can you install panels on the ground instead of a roof?
Yes. We do both ground-mount and roof-mount systems, so the panels can go wherever suits your farm best.
Does solar cope with farm dust and heat?
Yes. We use robust equipment chosen for dusty, hot conditions, and design every system around your site and loads.
Do you install farm solar outside Gauteng?
Yes. We've installed farm systems in Harrismith, Parys and Wolwehoek in the Free State, and we work across Gauteng, the Free State, North West, Mpumalanga and Limpopo.
